Ukraine has unveiled the Bambetel ground drone, an unmanned system designed to operate with simultaneous fiber-optic and radio control, increasing reliability in contested environments.
Developed by KB-MEGATECH in partnership with Skelia Systems, the vehicle focuses on a low signature and resistance to interference—key characteristics for battlefield operations.
Bambetel’s distinguishing feature is the use of a fiber-optic link for high-speed data transmission, including Full HD video, complemented by a backup radio channel. This dual-channel architecture is intended to ensure continuity of command and control even under electronic warfare actions, enhancing the system’s survivability during missions.
With a range of up to 20 km, a maximum speed of 15 km/h, and a payload capacity of 20 kg, the electric drone weighs 25 kg and has already completed testing, making it ready for operational use. The communications system combines control via the CRSF protocol and retransmission by UAV and repeater, while recent reports indicate that ground drones are also being employed in engineering tasks, such as supporting the construction of crossings.
